Manon - Director & Tutor

Bonjour bonjour ! I am Manon and I come from the lovely city of Limoges, in the Limousin region in France (and I am a big fan of it!!).

Even though I think Limoges is the best city in the world, I have caught the travel bug! I have travelled in a lot of places and countries, for the last few years I have lived in Germany, in New Zealand and now in the UK since 2020.

I have degrees in French and English languages and a Master’s in French as foreign and second language. I have also completed my PGCE in 2022 and been a qualified MFL teacher in secondary schools. I am currently completing a Masters of Education with a highlight in bilinguism. Also, I am a language nerd, I have learnt English, Spanish, Italian and a bit of German and Mandarin. I am always interested in discovering new languages and cultures which I think is very important regarding everything the world has to offer!

I enjoy reading, cooking, hiking, taking (lots of) photos, going to museums, theatre and everything culturally related. I am a good food (and wine) lover too!

I am very happy to be part of the Alliance Française de Leeds, and I am looking forward to share my love for the Francophonie with you!

As the new director of the Alliance Francaise de Leeds, I am thrilled to meet you either in class or at one of our events! I am also always available to answer any of your questions!

À bientôt ! 😄

Muriel - Tutor

Bonjour !

I was born in Toulouse and grew up in the French Alps. After spending five years in the Netherlands, I moved to Britain in 1995.

I have 19 years’ experience in teaching French to adults from beginner to BA degree level in university language departments, first at Kingston upon Thames, then in Leeds. I also have experience in preparing students for GCSE and A-level qualifications.

Next to my teaching qualifications, the PGCHE and more recently a Master FLE/FLS/FOS, I have also two Master degrees, one in History and one in Cultural Policy which gives me a broad cultural knowledge that I apply in my teaching.

With a Spanish dad, a French mother, and now a Dutch husband and our two trilingual children, communicating in different languages has always been at the heart of my life. Living abroad has further developed my interest in intercultural communication and cross-cultural awareness which I am keen to promote in my teaching.

I enjoy gardening and spend quite a lot of time in my allotment. I also like cooking and baking, having a drink with my friends and watching movies at the cinema.

I look forward to meeting you at the Alliance Française de Leeds!

Flore - Tutor

Bonjour !

I am Flore, despite the several places I lived in, my roots are in Bretagne.

Since I was 20, I have always enjoyed moving to different places such as Milan, Paris, Marseille, Nice or Grenoble.

After 4 years spent near Nashville Tennessee, I have just settled down in Leeds. I became a French teacher while in the US. I have always loved training people in my former job though. I have a degree in International logistic and another one in gerontology.

I am crazy about languages, I speak English, Spanish and Italian, and I am currently learning Portuguese and Russian.

I am fond of cinema, I started tap dancing and jazz last year, I also enjoy practicing fencing sword. Sea sports such as windsurf, Surf or Kayak are a second nature for me.

I am really glad to join the Alliance Française de Leeds and I am looking forward to meet you to discover and make you discover so many topics (in French, obviously).

Edwina - Tutor

I was born and raised near Paris. I have two Master’s degrees : one in teaching French as a Foreign Language and one in English language and history .

After working in many countries as a French language tutor, I got interested in discovering more areas about managing a language and cultural centre. Thanks to my last two jobs, I was given the opportunity to develop and improve my skills. First, at the Alliance Française d’Oulan Bator, in Mongolia, where I was a tutor, the manager of the library as well as the director’s assistant for cultural events and then, in Tbilisi, at the Institut Français de Géorgie where I worked as the course director.

These last two experiences have led me to Leeds, I am very happy to be able to promote the French language and culture as well as francophonie!

I am looking forward to meeting you either in class or at one of our events !
